As an artist, I strive to depict the DICHOTOMY BETWEEN MEMORIES OF THE PAST & PRESENT EXPERIENCES, FANTASY vs. REALITY. To do this I often tap into my own personal experiences and try to articulate the differences between my past in Seoul, Korea and my present in Toronto, Canada and the “home away from home” transitional phase that I find myself in. In my pieces, the past and present homes and worlds coexist peacefully and combine with one other to create new unexplored territories. Art allows me to express my experience of a hybridized world. I believe that most people can relate to my art as it addresses cultural differences and asks the viewer to question where they feel their home is. My body of work usually instigates conversation and interaction with viewers from different cultures.
